Kunak businesses reopen but customers remain cautious

KUNAK: Several business sectors here have begun their operations the past two days after permission was granted for the economic sector to resume with compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and related regulations set by National Security Council (MKN), State Government and the local authorities (PBT).

Kunak was among four districts, the others were Lahad Datu, Tawau, and Semporna, placed under the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (Temco) for two weeks starting midnight on Sept 29, and then their status were changed to Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

A Daily Express survey on Wednesday found business premises such as furniture stores, electrical equipment stores, telecommunication shops, bookstores, insurance agencies, gold shops, auto workshops, hardware stores, hair salons and few others were opening up for business but with reduced number of customers.
