Kota Kinabalu: The Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) maiden flight to ferry assets and logistics to set up a ‘Makeshift Treatment Centre’ (MTC) at the Kota Kinabalu Prison Complex in Kepayan arrived Thursday.The RMAF Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft landed at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) Terminal Two about 11.52am. Among the items brought in were personal protective equipment (PPE), tents, medical equipment such as rapid test kits (RTK), and pharmaceutical supplies for the Health Ministry’s use statewide. It is understood that more flights are lined up to bring other logistics and assets.

Earlier, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during his daily press conference had said that the Armed Forces would set up an MTC inside the Kota Kinabalu Prison Complex.

The Kota Kinabalu Prison Complex MTC, he said, would be similar in design with the Pokok Sena Prison, Kedah makeshift centre that was used as a treatment or isolation centre for patients infected with Covid-19.
