Marcos Asensio hopes Real Madrid teammate Eden Hazard can get beyond his injury problems.

Hazard should be battling with Asensio for a spot in coach Zinedine Zidane's XI, but the Belgian has suffered with multiple injuries since making the switch from Chelsea to Real Madrid.

"I see Hazard quite lively, I see him very well," Asensio replied. "It is difficult for him, because he was not used to injuries and it is bad luck what has happened to him. As soon as he feels good, I'm sure he'll regain his confidence quickly."

Lionel Messi almost left Barcelona this summer, but Asensio admits that he enjoys the challenge of coming up against some of the world's best players.

"I didn't care if Messi left or stayed," Asensio said. "It would be better for Barcelona if he stayed; I like playing against the best."
