Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted a football director's appointment is being discussed.
With executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward holding the purse strings and Matt Judge, head of corporate development, in charge of negotiations, there have been accusations of an absence of football knowhow when it comes to finalising deals.
"There's always people who want to talk about how well they're running things and how well they're doing," said Solskjaer. "We've all got different views on how football should be played and how clubs should be run. We've got good people running our club.
"There's always discussions behind the scenes, which people don't know about, around how we're doing things and evaluating how we're doing things.
"It's a process the club is going through all the time, if we've got the right people in the right positions."
Asked if United could look to finally appoint a director of football after this window had shut Solskjaer said "it's not for me to say", but he did insist the club were making progress under the current set-up, something he was confident supporters could see.
"At the moment we're working with this structure and I feel the results last season we've seen a big improvement, fans looked at us and said we're moving in the right direction so hopefully we can carry that on this season."
