Everton were able to nick James away from Real on a free with the Spanish giants eager to clear his €10m salary off their books, knowing he was surplus to requirements for Zidane.
His Colombia coach Carlos Quieroz, referring to the No10 role, said this week: "At Everton he plays like we do, with total freedom.
"It is his position, the place that corresponds to him since he stood out in Porto."
