Olympique Marseille failed with a serious push for West Ham United striker Sebastien Haller this summer.
Telefoot says OM chief Pablo Longoria had made signing Haller a priority for the transfer window.
Longoria hired an intermediary to work on the deal and received encouragement from both Haller and the Hammers over a transfer.
However, in the end West Ham's asking price proved too rich for Marseille.
Revisiting the subject in January hasn't been ruled out.
