Former Real Madrid coach and player Bernd Schuster is unconvinced by the form of Zinedine Zidane's team.

Schuster was unimpressed by Real's 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Madrid has returned to before the pandemic: there is a lack of rhythm and it is difficult to generate goal chances," said Schuster.

"Sometimes we coaches like to cover up a bit what we really think at a press conference."

He continued: "Madrid has had two very bad Champions League games plus the Cádiz game and Barcelona was not like that because the game changed due to a refereeing decision.

"In addition, failures are repeated: errors in defence, few ideas to generate chances..."
