Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has played down concerns about the fitness of Bertrand Traore after the game against Southampton.

Villa were involved in a thriller on Sunday, going 4-0 down before pulling it back to 4-3.

Traore came off 29 minutes into the game for Trezeguet, but Smith hopes he is not out for too long.

"It happened on our short free-kick routine where it came to him and he side-footed it on the edge of their area just wide," he told reporters.

"He felt his groin so the medical staff will look at him and we'll see how bad it is. I don't think it's really serious otherwise he wouldn't have carried on.

"It was serious enough for him to come off, that's for sure."
