Chelsea were ready to move for the Italy international, but Edouard Mendy's success has seen the trail go cold.
Mendy, a summer signing from Rennes, has been outstanding since kicking off his Premier League career this season.
As such, Chelsea have pulled back from contact with Donnarumma's agent, Mino Raiola.
Juventus, however, remain strongly interested in Donnaumma, and the possibility of taking him on a free transfer next summer.
