Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Arthur Joseph Kurup said the Covid-19 pandemic has affected Malaysia’s economic growth this year and that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded a negative at 8.3 per cent during the first half of 2020.

He said all major sectors of the economy were affected particularly the services sector (-6.7pc), manufacturing (-8.7pc) and construction (-25.9pc).

“The decline in growth was partly due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO),” he said when responding to Su Keong Siong (Kampar) at the Dewan Rakyat.
