TAWAU: A total of 12,200 packs of contraband cigarettes estimated worth RM152,288 were seized by the Sabah East Coast Special Security Area (Esscom) in the area of Block 5 Kg Titingan, near here, around 9.35pm, on Friday (pic).Esscom Commander DCP Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman said the success was due to information from the Esscom OCP South Subpusop after detecting a boat from Sebatik island heading to Kg Titingan via movement radar. Nine personnel of the 14th Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA), nine personnel of the 9 Royal Ranger Regiment as well as five of the Marine Police Force Intelligence Unit (PPM) led by an Esscom officer were deployed to the location.
