Tim Krul says he is happy to have stayed with Norwich City.
Despite relegation, the former Newcastle United goalkeeper is with the Holland squad this week.
He revealed, "At my age, playing is the most important thing and now I can show myself every three, four days.
"I didn't want to be the second goalkeeper on the bench at a Premier League club.
"And what also played a role is the fact that the way of playing at Norwich City resembles that of Oranje. We also build from the back. If I had chosen a Premier League club that would end up in the relegation zone and only the long ball, then I would have been less interesting for Oranje."
