Petrol worth RM1.18m seized from two boats

SEMPORNA: The Joint Task Force 2 (ATB 2) seized RM1,185,324 worth of petrol from two kumpits (traditional wooden barter trade boats) and a tankship in the waters off Pulau Ligitan, here, early Tuesday.

Its Commander Brigadier-General Johari Mohd Jaafar said suspicious movement detected by the Radar Coastal Surveillance System prompted them to the site around 1.05am.

The security enforcement team intercepted the vessels which led to the discovery of 12 Filipino crew and 505 barrels of petrol on both kumpit. Each barrel has a 200-litre capacity.
