Kota Kinabalu: Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) welcomed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement that the Government is considering issuing temporary one or two-year work permits to illegal foreign workers in the country to overcome the shortage of workers in the oil palm and rubber industries.

Its President Tan Sri Andrew Liew (pic) hoped that while studying this, the Prime Minister and the Government could also reduce illegal polling taxes and also the heavy burden of various industries. Pointing out that the proposal is nothing more than a solution to the problem of manpower shortage in various industries, he said it would definitely help restore normal business operations and promote economic revitalisation.
