ASSE coach Claude Puel is in the market for a new striker in January and is targeting Algeria international Slimani.
Puel worked with Slimani when Foxes manager and is hopeful of striking a loan deal for the second-half of the season.
L'Equipe says key to any agreement will be Leicester's willingness to cover a percentage of Slimani's wages.
And early signs are that Leicester will agree to ASSE's request.
