And Villa boss Dean Smith admits there's little chance of buying Barkley if he maintains his form.
Barkley, reports The Sun, could be given the chance to resurrect his career in Lampard's team.
And the Three Lions midfielder, who suffered an injury during Villa's loss to Brighton, also has a contract with the club that runs until 2023.
Barkley had opted for a September move from West London in a bid to boost his England selection chances ahead of the Euros next year.
