Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) national president Datuk Tan Kok Liang said tourism industry players felt largely left out of Budget 2021’s aid to Malaysia’s businesses.“The 2021 Budget has failed to provide solid relief programmes to protect jobs and tourism businesses and will not do much to help the tourism sector on its road to recovery. “The tourism industry, which is inclusive of components such as accommodation, travel agents, tour operators, transportation, food and beverage operators and many others contributes 15 percent of the nation’s GDP and is one of the top five in foreign exchange earners and employs more than 3.6 million people,” he stressed.
