Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard is happy to take on more responsibility at club and international level.
The centre-back returned to action with Denmark during the recent international break.
He played 90 minutes as the Danes defeated Iceland 2-1 on Sunday in the Nations League.
The 28-year-old spoke before the game about taking on captaincy roles, both with Southampton and Denmark.
Speaking to Danish outlet BT, he said: "It is natural for me to take responsibility and I always work in the interest of the team.
"I enjoyed being captain in my time on the under-21 national team and was already deputy captain in Hoffenheim, so if one day it leads to a captain armband, then I will be proud."
