Kota Kinabalu: The “Homestay Id Kalangadan” programme, comprising 16 homestays across five villages here, was officially launched on Tuesday as part of a rural tourism initiative to uplift the rural community’s socioeconomics. The initiative is a joint collaboration between City Hall (DBKK), the Sabah Institute for Rural Advancement (Infra Sabah), Tourism, Art and Culture Ministry (Motac) and Sabah Tourism Board (STB). As part of the initiative, a Homestay Course was conducted and participated by 16 homestay owners from Kg Bambangan Baru (six participants), Kg Poring-Poring, Inanam (five participants), Kg Marahang, Manggatal (two participants), Kg Kokol (two participants) and Kg Tombongan, Manggatal (one participant).

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir, who is the Minister in charge of DBKK, extended his appreciation towards DBKK, Infra Sabah, Motac and STB’s efforts in making the initiative a reality.
