KUNAK: Two concrete buildings believed to have been used for ammunition and firearms storage during the colonial era have been discovered some 15km from Pekan Kunak, here, recently.

The buildings, measuring approximately 2x2 metres and 3x3 metres, are located at the roadside of Jalan Tun Fuad, near Kg Airport, Mile 10.

“Whether the derelicts were constructed during the British era or during the Japanese Occupation, perhaps historians or public universities in Sabah may be interested in reviewing and conducting a detailed study,” said a resident who made the discovery.

A Daily Express survey found that the mould-covered buildings are surrounded by overgrown shrubs and one of the buildings has a cross-section with a rusted metal barrier.
