Faster development approvals

Kota Kinabalu: The State Local Government and Housing Ministry aims to ensure development plans are processed in a short period by allowing local authorities to consider and formulate decisions related to development planning approval. 

 Its Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said they are authorised to consider and formulate decisions to approve development plan application under Section 15 (2) of the Town and Country Planning Ordinance (Sabah Cap. 141) provided the plan has gone through the process of Section 7 of the Ordinance. 

“Accordingly, all local authorities have been instructed to take action to gazette their respective District and Local Plans,” said he said.

To date, 30 out of 49 Local Plans have been successfully gazetted under Section 6 while 16 out of 49 Local Plans have been successfully gazetted under Section 7.
