Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg believes Mesut Ozil is still an excellent passer of the football.

Ozil has been frozen out at Arsenal by manager Mikel Arteta, as he is not even a part of the team's 25 man Premier League squad.

As the Gunners experience one of their worst starts to a league season in decades, Arteta is finding it difficult to avoid the Ozil question.

Ljungberg, who was a coach at Arsenal last season and even temporarily managed the team for a few games after Unai Emery's sacking, spoke about Ozil and other matters on Sky Sports.

On Ozil, he said: "When you have possession or need to find that pass, I don't think there's many better players than Mesut at doing that.

"Of course, you lose a bit defensively, but that's the decision they have made.

"I don't know why the decision has been made that he is outside of the squad, so they can't use him.

"But for those things, I don't see there's many better players in the world."
