SAPP Wanita welcomes allocation for women

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Wanita appreciates the  budget presented by Chief Minister cum State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Hj Noor that showed its concern for the well-being and empowerment of women in the State.

Its Chief, Irene Chan Kam Ndin (pic) said the allocation of RM15.66 million for women’s development programmes, which includes RM5.86 million skill courses for single mothers and underprivileged women under supervision of the Women Affairs Department (Jhewa) so that they will be equipped with necessary skills for their sustenance.

She also welcomed the development program which includes RM9.8 million provided under Yayasan Usaha Maju (Yum) for provision of micro-credit facilities to women.

“It is hoped that the Women Development Programme will improve the livelihood of our women and empower them to face the economic hardship, especially at this time of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Irene said.

She also called on women to take advantage of the development programme by the government to improve and uplift their livelihood.

She said the allocation should be fairly distributed and should reach the truly needy ones.
