Food deliverers among booked

Kota Kinabalu: The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) here issued 108 summonses for various offences during on Dec. 15.

 City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the operation involved a senior officer and 11 personnel. Some 280 vehicles of various types were inspected using the Mobile Compound Online Payment System (MCOPS) while 326 individuals involving p-hailing were inspected.

 “Of the total 108 summonses issued, 75 were issued under POL 257 while another 33 were issued under POL 170a due to obstruction and neglected traffic signals in the city centre.

 “The operation was to ensure drivers and riders comply with road regulations especially in conjunction with the coming festive season,” he said.

 Habibi said JSPT launched a “red light operation” from Dec 15 to 31 nationwide involving all contingents and districts.

“This operation is to track down those who commit such offences, especially among motorcyclists including food/goods deliverers (p-hailling) and other vehicle drivers.

 “It aims to educate and give awareness to road users to comply with traffic lights,” he said.
