Mainz striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has explained why decided to stay at the club this past summer.
The France U21 international was linked with Crystal Palace and Tottenham.
"It's very simple," Mateta told Kicker when asked why he stayed at Mainz in the summer
"I didn't see myself in any of the clubs that wanted me.
"I said to myself; 'the best thing to do is stay in Mainz, play a good season and then see what happens next summer'."
