Kota Kinabalu: The Pew Research Centre reckons, there will be 2.8 billion Muslims globally by 2050 or, more than a quarter of the world’s population, with Muslim women making up at least 1.4 billion.The just released “State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2020/21” launched in Singapore at Reimagine: Halal in Asia 2020, ranked Malaysia tops in four of six categories the world’s most Muslim-friendly destination. It also ahead of its peers in the halal food, Islamic finance and pharmaceutical and cosmetics categories. The survey covered 81 countries, comprising Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries as well as non-OIC countries with a prominent halal industry. Muslim women dominate in high-paying jobs in the civil service and GLS in Malaysia, and their spending is helpful to boost the economic recovery in the retail and other sectors.
