Barcelona presidential candidate Augusti Benedito admits he's concerned after Lionel Messi's La Sexta interview.
Benedito is worried that Messi failed to declare he wishes to stay, with his contract due to expire in June.
He said, "We must have a franchise player and Leo Messi is the best in the world. He's wanted at Barcelona and there is no one better for this.
"After the interview with Évole, I am pessimistic. I wish he had said he wants to stay, it would be the best news."
Benedito admits he is keen on bringing Sevilla sporting director Monchi to Barca should he win.
"The first thing I will do is call him and convince him to come to Barcelona. We will push him to be with us, although I am realistic."
