West Ham boss David Moyes praised matchwinner Tomas Soucek after victory at Everton.
Moyes, though, insists the midfielder has played better.
He said, "He has been very important. I think he's played better than he did tonight but if he keeps coming up with goals I'll be very happy.
"It was important to get something from this. It was our third game in six days. We asked the players to do it and they did a brilliant job. We have been playing games while missing important players so we have been juggling around trying to find the right balance. Tonight we had a good balance and it gave us a good chance of winning."
Moyes also spoke of the passing of former Scotland manager Tommy Docherty: "It's an incredibly sad time. We have seen so many recently unfortunately and he's another one. My memory of him is as a young Scottish manager growing up in Glasgow. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few times and he was always very pleasant and supportive. It's sad so I pass on my best wishes to his family."
