NEW DELHI - Two India's international badminton players - Saina Nehwal and H S Prannoy have tested positive for COVID-19 in Thailand, reported Xinhua news agency, quoting officials today.
Both have been quarantined at a hospital in Bangkok.
"Two Indian players - Saina Nehwal and H S Prannoy - have tested positive for COVID-19. Both players have been withdrawn from the tournament and must be isolated in hospital for a minimum 10 days," the Badminton Association of India (BAI) said in a statement.
The BAI said it was in constant touch with Badminton World Federation (BWF), team management, players and organisers.
Both Nehwal and Prannoy were set to take part in the Thailand Open tournament that got underway today.
This is the second time that Nehwal and Prannoy had tested positive. Both have served a quarantine period and tested negative before arriving in Bangkok, reports said. – Bernama, January 12, 2021
