Wen Li finally begins US stint

Kota Kinabalu: National player Lai Wen Li finally arrived in Ithaca, New York on Monday (Jan 25) to start the new chapter in her squash career in the United States.

The 20-year-old Sabahan had been accepted into New York’s based Cornell University back in 2019 and was poised to join them in August last year but the date was later postponed to December before another delay that saw her finally make the trip on Sunday.

Lai, who has been named in the Ivy League research university women’s squash team featuring fellow Malaysian teammate Sivasangari Subramaniam, was delighted to make the trip with Sivasangari after the delays.

“I was supposed to leave in December last year but had to abort the plan due to the Covid-19 outbreak that resulted in the suspension of training at the University.
