Juli López says Barcelona will clearly regret not signing Manchester City defender Eric Garcia in January.
Lopez is the head of football for presidential candidate Victor Font, who was overruled in his push for Garcia to be signed immediately, rather than wait when his contract expires in June.
He told Marca: "Voices are already reaching us in this regard. The financial issue weighs heavily, but the coach required his services and now with (Ronald) Araujo's injury the situation is even more complicated.
"We believed that the sporting situation in this case was more important than the economic one."
On interest in Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Lopez also said, "Barça needs another scorer. Kun would not be signed for (Lionel) Messi to be happy, we are talking about a first level striker who wants to stay in a strong European competition until the World Cup in Qatar. He would be highly motivated and would give Barcelona a very good performance."
