Montreal Impact president Kevin Gilmore insists they never fielded an approach from Bournemouth last week.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has just resigned as Impact coach, having been beaten by Jonathan Woodgate to the Cherries job.

But Gilmore says: "The timing is far from perfect, but there is no deadline when it comes to 'a personal decision', as well as the rumours he has been the subject of recently.

“There was noise in English clubs, but there was no talks. I can confirm that no club has been spoken to and he assures me neither, Bournemouth was nothing but a rumour. No one contacted us to ask for permission to speak to him.

"There were no discussions between Thierry and the club. He was not there to talk to the clubs. I mean, the timing is weird. It came out of nowhere. There was no discussion with this club."
