IPOH: Police are mulling to transfer a General Operations Forces (GOF) brigade from the peninsula to Sabah following looming threats in the east coast of the State.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said police intelligence continued to receive information that there are efforts to attack the State. “We realise that the security threats from the neighbouring countries are drastically increasing.

“However, we managed to avoid the attacks with cooperation from the Philippines who are constantly communicating with us. But the threats are always there.

“We need to get ready to avoid the recurrence of Ops Daulat,” he told reporters after closing the Orang Asli Constable Basic Course at General Operations Force (GOF) Ulu Kinta, here, Monday.

Asked when the transfer of the selected GOF brigade will be, Abdul Hamid said he was still discussing the matter with all GOFs commanders.

“We need to see the pros and cons first but we really need to have one in Sabah waters and to monitor Sarawak, too, besides strengthening the battalions there,” he added.
