Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court fixed Apr 15 this year for e-review of the case involving a 25-year-old man charged with gang robbery.

Judge Elsie Primus set the date for Angel Wee Peng Teng to monitor the progress of the plea bargaining application by the defence.

The proceeding was done via Zoom on Monday.

Counsel Jamil Hamid from the National Legal Aid Foundation, who represented Wee, requested for time to file the application for plea bargaining.

Wee is accused of robbing one Sarimah Saridin, 27, of her iPhone, at 4.30am on June 29, 2019 at the Lobi 3 Hotel at Bandaran Berjaya, here.

He allegedly committed the offence together with two accomplices still at large.

The offence under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution.

In another case, a man was charged with taking drug repeatedly.

However, no plea was taken from Mohd Syammil Abdul Malek after the charge was read to him pending the pathology report and his previous convictions record.

The court set Apr 22 for mention and released Mohd Syammil on bail of RM5,000 with RM3,000 deposited in two local sureties.

Mohd Shammil was also ordered to report to the Kota Belud police station once a week.
