Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admits their summer market plans will depend on where they finish on the table this season.

Arteta was speaking ahead of the weekend clash with Burnley.

He said, “We will see. Obviously we are planning on what will happen in the summer. It will depend on where we finish and how we finish in some cases.

I think what we had to do in December was unprecedented, a club of this stature to do the amount of transactions that we had to make.

"It tells you as well where we are. It was very much needed and you want to improve and you want to do that.

"It's whether the things you have in the house and you believe you can improve, not externally, buying players and moving to the next level. Everything is planned. Lets see as well what the market can bring and the last few months can bring to the club."

Asked about missing out on Europa League qualification, he added: "At the moment it is not a possibility it's a reality and we have to be judged on that. I think it is fair judgement as well. The option for Europe is still available through two different paths.

"We have to maximise that as much as possible because of the club's history related to not just the Europa League but the Champions League. Everything that's not at that level is filled with disappointment."
