Arsenal legend Ian Wright has jumped to the defence of Alexandre Lacazette.

Wright has defended Lacazette after he claimed his teammates "didn't respect" Mikel Arteta's pre-match instructions before the 3-3 draw with West Ham.

Wright suggested that it was merely a translation issue, rather than any kind of indictment of Arteta's methods.

“No, I don't think he means disrespect," Wright told Premier League Productions. “That's just his translation and the way it's been translated.

“He's more saying that they didn't execute the game plan for what the boss asked them to do. And you could see that in the first 30/35 minutes.

Arsenal were nowhere near it and it was a testament to West Ham that they did punish them and take the chances when the chances came.

“In the end, I think the character that they showed was magnificent."
