The father of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland insists a move to Manchester United would be no great step up.

Haaland is being linked with United ahead of the summer market.

But father and former Manchester City midfielder Alfe-Inge told the Manchester Evening News: "Manchester United has achieved great success in recent years.

"The club is also trying to build something new there.

"But it is not easy to compare because he already plays for Dortmund. Traditionally, there are two large clubs with large supporters and a large history.

"Man United is a very proud club, just like Dortmund is in Germany."
