BELURAN: About 7,000 students from 60 schools in the Beluran parliamentary constituency here Tuesday received assistance through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme of the National Farmers’ Association (Nafas).

Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said Nafas had provided an allocation of RM580,000 this year to implement CSR in conjunction with the Back To School Programme.

“The delivery of aid has been implemented in stages throughout the country since January and donations were given in the form of school equipment including bags, books and stationery to the target group, especially among family members of farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen,” he told reporters at the Back To School Programme here.

He said Nafas was determined to ease the burden of low-income families, especially when preparing their children for school.

“Given the current situation where the Covid-19 pandemic is still not over, it is hoped that the assistance today can help those in need to some extent, especially in making early preparations for their children’s schooling,” he added.

According to Ronald, the donations were meant not only for families of farmers but also the local community.

“The profits generated by Nafas are shared not only with more than 900,000 members of the farming community but also others in need. For example, today, 13 outboard engines were also presented to eligible recipients,” he said.

He also advised people from all levels of society to register for the Covid-19 vaccine shot through the My Sejahtera application or www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
