Kota Kinabalu: Socso has channelled RM1.005 billion to the people of Sabah through economic stimulus packages announced by the Government. Its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said this was in the form of assistance and financial incentives to employers and employees for the continuity of business operations, retaining existing employees and hiring new employees. He said Socso thus far distributed RM14.6b to employers and employees nationwide through various government initiatives implemented by Socso.
As of April 2, this year, Socso assisted 46,971 individuals through the re-employment placement programme, while the number of vacancies registered by employers has reached 457,753 vacancies. “For Sabah, as of April 1, the number of active workers covered was 280,744, while the number of active employers was 33,893,” he said during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor at the latter’s office in the State Administrative Centre, here, Tuesday.
Hajiji expressed appreciation to Socso for providing social security for the people of Sabah including job placement programmes. Also present were the Sabah Socso Director, Dr Mohd Ali Hindia , Sabah Socso Enforcement Branch Officer, Abd Rahman Ramli, and Sabah Socso Public Relations and Customer Service Branch Head, Awang Japar.
