Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has defended the timing of his substitutions in the Europa League draw with Slavia Prague.
With the game tied at 0-0, Arteta waited until the 78th minute to bring on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe and Mohamed Elneny.
Aubameyang and Pepe combined eight minutes later to give Arsenal the lead, which they squandered courtesy of Tomas Holes' stoppage time goal.
Asked about his substitutions, Arteta said: "We know that we had the possibility to change things with five substitutes.
"We thought it was the right time for the set-up we had. It was the right moment and they had a big impact. We know the subs have a lot to say in this competition. Unfortunately we didn't capitalise on it."
