The attacking midfielder rose to fame when he became the youngest Blues player to ever feature in the Champions League in 2009.
But his progress stalled at the club, and he failed to show the same promise at other clubs either.
But Kakuta's present spell with Lens in France is drawing attention from Premier League clubs, per the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman is now 29 and has 11 goals and five assists for Lens in Ligue 1 this term.
