Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old man claimed trial to two counts of trespassing into a house in Pulau Gaya and molesting a teenage girl inside the house.

Sulaiman Asoi, who was first brought before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, pleaded not guilty to molesting the girl at 5.55am on May 14 this year.

The offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishment, upon conviction.

The prosecution applied for a case management and objected bail for Sulaiman as he had no identity card.

Jessica set June 21 for case management and ordered Sulaiman be remanded further.

Sulaiman, who was later brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, also denied of trespassing into the said house at the same place and time.

The charge under Section 448 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to three years or fine or both, upon conviction.

Sulaiman also made a complaint to the court that he was beaten after the alleged incident to make him confess to the offences and lifted up his t-shirt and showed the court the injuries on his body.

Lovely fixed June 24 for case management and ordered Sulaiman, who was not represented, to be further remanded.

The court also ordered the prosecution to ensure that Sulaiman will be given medical attention if needed.

Inspectors Albert Basiri and Kelvan Elson Maik prosecuted.
