Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke may pull back from offering manager Mikel Arteta a bumper transfer budget this summer.

The Mirror says Kroenke's decision to pay Arsenal's Super League fines himself could yet impact on the club's transfer business.

The Gunners were one of six Premier League clubs to sign up to the breakaway competition before backing out amid huge criticism and fan backlash.

UEFA have since ordered the clubs to pay a £1.44m goodwill gesture whilst also withholding five per cent of their European revenue.

Kroenke, as well as Liverpool's and Manchester United's American owners, has vowed to pay the fines from his own pocket.

That could hamper Arsenal's summer transfer business however with finance specialists warning that such payments would be deemed as “owner funding" in Financial Fair Play calculations.
