Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason was surprised to see Sheffield United star John Fleck avoid a red card in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

Spurs battered the Blades throughout the contest, and emerged with a well deserved 4-0 win.

An early second half incident saw Fleck and Giovani Lo Celso go for the ball, with Fleck treading on the face of the Argentine in the aftermath.

VAR felt the incident was not intentional from Fleck.

"Absolutely [should have been a red card]," said Mason, per The Metro.

"I'm shocked the referee in the room hasn't given it and then hasn't asked the referee to have a look at it, especially with some of the red cards we've seen in recent weeks.

"It was an avoidable action.

"The player's safety has been put in danger. I'm shocked and disappointed."
