Villarreal coach Unai Emery insists they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final on merit.
Villarreal defeated United in a penalty shootout 11-10.
And Emery insists the triumph was about skill and not luck: "The players have shown a good mentality throughout the tournament and in the final.
"We knew how to compete, suffer and score, and we finished stronger than them.
"Penalty kicks are not a lottery. You have to have a strong head to be able to kick in that situation with maximum pressure, and the players were unique."
