Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix is set for surgery.
Marca says after Portugal's elimination from the 2020 European Championship, Felix will undergo surgery in Porto on Thursday by the Dutch surgeon Niek van Dijk to repair an ankle injury, one which has been affecting him in the last few months.
The Atletico Madrid prodigy is expected to be sidelined for one month and should recover in time for the start of the 2021/22 season, in which he will try to rediscover his best form.
Felix's performances between last October and November demonstrated the 21-year-old's potential, but injuries didn't allow him to find consistency last season.
He lost his spot in both Atletico and Portugal's starting line-ups due to his lack of fitness, with those around him being certain that his ankle knock has prevented him from shining in 2021.
