Belgium coach Roberto Martinez is being linked with a return to Everton.
The Daily Mail says Everton have spoken to a number of managers including Nuno Espirito Santo and still have other candidates in frame for the job such as Graham Potter, of Brighton.
Martinez also has supporters at board level as the club look to replace Carlo Ancelotti, who left to join Real Madrid at the start of this month.
It was claimed last week that Martinez is open to a return to club management at Goodison Park following a three-year spell in charge between 2013 and 2016.
Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri remains hopeful of appointing former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, despite a backlash from fans.
