Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has accused Europe's Super League clubs of trying to "kill football".
Ferrero says the transfer market is lopsided in favour of the biggest clubs.
“I say that there are incredible costs in the world of football," he said.
"For example, I would never have paid €60 million for [Lukaku], I would have taken three promising players.
“Having the big clubs with overly high salary bills, they tried to kill European football [referring to the attempt at a breakaway Super League].
"The directors give themselves a rule and follow it, otherwise their is no market."
