Borussia Dortmund are hoping to hike up the price of Manchester United target Jadon Sancho.

The Daily Mail says United have to break the British transfer record if they want to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer with the German club holding out for a record price and the two clubs still some distance apart.

The German club have not significantly reduced their asking price of £108million from a year ago and any offer from United would need to be in excess of the £89million paid for Paul Pogba in 2016 which is still the Premier League's most expensive deal.

The relationship between the two clubs has improved since last year's drawn-out negotiations collapsed, with talks now back underway.

Talks are ongoing but it is understood that United are short of the scale of funds needed to sign Sancho, meaning any deal would most likely have to be structured payments over a few years with add-ons and incentive bonuses.
