While talks over a possible €150million transfer have yet to get underway between the two clubs, Chelsea insiders believe they may be the only club in the race to sign Haaland this summer, which would strengthen their bargaining position.
Everything could change when a €75million release clause in Haaland's contract becomes active next summer, with Chelsea chiefs believing that could be the key to opening the door for a possible deal this summer.
If Dortmund are offered a fee in excess of €120million for a player they will be forced to sell for €75million next year, they may have to consider their options.
